oranges

We found a really neat book at the library called Multi Sensory Theme-A-Saurus. Sorta cheesy name, but it has proven helpful. It's written by Gayle Bittinger.
Today, we learned about Oranges. We used some of her ideas as well as some from our family. First, they had to search for the oranges that i had hid around the house. Then we counted them and talked about the shape and textures. We read from our Super Food book and learned about vitamin C and antioxidants. Then we peeled one each and counted the segments inside. Then we used the rest to squeeze out own orange juice. (we actually only had clementines, which break apart easier than oranges, so for future reference oranges would have worked better, but not matter....) Then we took out the gross pulp (sorry charlie!) and drank the juice. It was really good!!! Then we read from Genesis and figured out that they would have been created on day 3. It took 20 minutes to do it all and it helped our day start with some educational fun! :)
