Living with change

just for fun!

Never mind...yesterday ended our "no seizure streak".

Keep praying for safety. You never know when or where they are going to happen. Learning to live with epilepsy has been ....something. I guess it's still too new to have just the right word to describe it. Many friends have asked how Ethan is doing with it? To be honest, he has handled it very well. But he handles the doctor appointments, blood work, MRI's and EGG's really well. He understands (from what he is saying..) that God has allowed this trial -so we are going to just deal with it. Which is what I feel like MOST the time. But as a mom--it's like a rollercoaster of emotions!

As far as Elliot is concerned....I think it's making him grow up faster. As a four year old he has "jobs" that most kids his age don't have to worry about. I think he gets sad sometimes about all the attention ( good or bad) that his older brother gets. The other night at dinner he declared that he wished he had seizures! (Just so you know -Charlie and my heart broke at his words!) We talked through that for a bit. But you should see the prideful look of accomplishment that he wears on his face after Ethan has a seizure. Elliot knows he has helped yet again in making the situation easier. Elliot knows it's one of his jobs to grab mommy's cell phone (because in panic I can't remember charlie's cell # by heart..) and then Elliot stands by his baby sister to make sure she is okay. Seriously, Elliot always looks 2 years older to me after a seizure. Does that make sense?

Then there is Moriah. O, did the Lord show us such kindness in giving her for such a time like this! Her sweet, patience disposition has been a wave of encouragement. Now other mothers, please don't be jealous, but Moriah has slept through the night for the most part since her birth. Minus a few nights after she came home. She loves her sleep and she also loves a schedule. During the day it's get up, change diaper, eat, play for about an hour or so and then sleep again. She doesn't cry a lot except when she just wants to inform me of her hunger or that she's tired and wants to go to bed. :) So having a child with epilepsy and a newborn has blended beautifully in our home. Children really are a blessing.

Anyway, that's a glimpse into our life this morning. The Lord is good.
